Using Meter Analytics

Explore meter-level analytics for an asset: the meter list with data coverage badges, consumption trends per meter, and the data coverage calendar for locating gaps.

Purpose of this article

Meter Analytics provides meter-level analytics for a single asset: which meters exist, how much they consume, and how complete their data is. This article covers the meter list, the analyze view for an individual meter, and how to use the data coverage views to find and close data gaps.

Where to find Meter Analytics

Analytics Portal → Portfolio → Asset List → [select asset] → Meter Analytics

The page is organised by resource type using the top tabs: Energy, Water, and Waste. A year selector in the top right controls the reporting year for the values shown.

The meter list

Each row represents one meter linked to the asset and shows:

  • Meter ID — click to open the meter's analyze view
  • Subcategory (e.g. Natural gas, Off-site electricity)
  • Area type — the coverage configuration of the meter (e.g. Whole Building - Landlord Controlled)
  • Covered area — the floor area associated with the meter
  • Data coverage — a badge with the percentage of the reporting period covered by valid consumption data, matching the value shown in the meter's analyze view
  • Analyze — opens the meter-level analytics view

Above the table, group chips summarise the meters by coverage grouping, and you can narrow the list with the search box, the Utility type and Status filters, and the Anomalies only toggle, which isolates meters with detected consumption anomalies.

Analyzing a single meter

Click Analyze (or the meter ID) to open the meter's analytics view. A dropdown at the top lets you switch between the asset's meters without going back to the list.

The consumption chart shows monthly consumption for the selected year, with arrows to step between years. Below the chart, three summary values are shown for the selected year: Total consumption, Avg monthly, and Data coverage.

Data coverage calendar

Below the consumption chart, the Data coverage card shows a calendar grid of the meter's entire history: one row per reporting year, one column per month. Each cell is marked green (Data available) or grey (No data).

Use the calendar to locate gaps precisely: the Data coverage percentage tells you data is missing, and the calendar shows exactly which months and years are affected, so you can target the right consumption records or data requests without opening periods one by one.

Troubleshooting & common mistakes

A meter is missing from the list → Check the meter's active status for the selected reporting year, and confirm the meter is linked to this asset. The list follows the selected year.

Coverage badge is lower than expected → Open the meter's analyze view and check the Data coverage calendar to see which specific months lack data, then add or request the missing consumption records in the Data Collection Portal.

Consumption chart shows values but coverage shows 0% → The chart and coverage are calculated for the selected year; use the year arrows to confirm you are looking at the year that actually has data.
