Unit System Preferences

Note: The unit system set in your profile only affects how analytic metrics, charts, graphs, and tables are displayed to you. It’s independent of how data is entered and does not affect data entry or reporting outputs.

Change the Unit System for Inputs and Reporting Outputs

To update how data is entered or how reports are generated, adjust the Portfolio and Asset unit system settings.

Portfolio unit system

This portfolio-level setting determines the unit system used in all generated reports. New assets inherit this setting by default, though it can be customized per asset.

To update:

  1. Go to Data Collection Portal → Portfolio → Settings
  1. Under Default unit system, select Metric or Imperial

Asset unit system

This asset-level setting defines the unit system for data entry and conversion for that specific asset. It can be managed via the platform or the Scaler Spreadsheet.

In the Platform:

  • Navigate to Data Collection Portal → Asset → Overview → Edit Asset
  • Go to Asset Characteristics → Asset Details → Asset unit system

In the Spreadsheet:

  • Use the Asset Details sheet and locate the Asset unit system field
⚠️

The Asset unit system value must match the unit of the data you input. If you update this setting after entering data, Scaler will not convert previously entered values at the point of input — they will remain in the original unit system.
