Purpose of this article
This article explains how Scaler supports third-party (external) assurance of your ESG data, so an assurance provider can verify what you reported and you can keep the supporting evidence in one place.
How assurance is supported
Scaler supports assurance through a set of features that make data traceable and verifiable end to end:
- Auditor access — invite your assurance provider as a user and assign the Auditor role. Access is granted at no additional cost.
- Saved Reports — a timestamped, frozen copy of exactly what was submitted, including the raw data and emission factors used at the moment of generation.
- Audit trail — generated framework reports can include a full audit trail (metadata, conversion factors, emission factors, and an asset-level data export).
- Audit Log — every create, update, delete, and rollback event, with who made it, when, and why.
- Period lock — freeze reviewed data after submission so it cannot be changed.
Keeping assurance evidence
Store the assurance statement and any supporting evidence in the asset Document Library (Data Collection Portal → Asset → Document Library). Keeping evidence with the asset means auditors and reviewers can find it alongside the data it supports.
Giving your auditor access
- An admin opens user management in the Data Collection Portal.
- Invite the auditor and grant access to the relevant portfolios.
- Assign the Auditor role so they are clearly identified in the user list.
Once invited, auditors can review and export raw data, open Saved Reports and Report History, view the Audit Log, and download reports with the full audit trail.
