Purpose of this article
This article explains how to lock a reporting period so that reviewed, submitted data cannot be changed, and how to lift the lock if you need to make a correction.
Before you start
- Access level: Admin only.
- Lock a period only after the data has been reviewed and submitted. Locking mid-season will block other users from entering data.
What Period lock does
Period lock freezes the portfolio's reporting data for a period. Once locked, the data cannot be edited by other users, which preserves the integrity of your reported numbers after submission.
Locking a reporting period
- Go to Data Collection Portal → Portfolio → Settings.
- Open the reporting period lock control.
- Lock the period you want to freeze.

Lifting the lock
If corrections are needed, an admin can lift the lock. Any override is recorded in the Audit Log together with the reason message you provide, so the change stays traceable.
Period lock and Saved Reports
These are two different records, and they work together:
- Period lock freezes the underlying data so it cannot be edited.
- A Saved Report is a frozen copy of a generated report output, including the raw data and emission factors used at the moment of generation.
Use both for a defensible record of what you submitted.
